Furthr launches Furthr Foundry, a Pre-seed accelerator for early stage start-ups

Furthr Foundry is a new Pre-Seed Accelerator that offers support to early-stage start-ups aspiring to grow globally. Designed and delivered by Furthr drawing on its 35 years of experience in nurturing over 6000 Irish start-ups, this in-person programme aims to provide comprehensive support to founders through interactive and challenging sessions held at the Guinness Enterprise Centre. 

Pumpinheart, a medtech start-up founded by Dr Aamir Hameed, Dr. Andrew Malone, Dr Darragh Colgan, and Donald Hickey, looks to raise €5 million in seed funding later this year. The investment will go into fine-tuning its technology aimed at addressing diastolic heart failure. The larger-scaled version of the device was successfully tested on animals. 

Examfly, an Irish software start-up founded by Deirdre Lyons, has secured over €1.5m in its latest funding round. The company developed a learning platform for professionals and students in the financial, accounting, and taxation sectors. The company aims to use the new funds to develop its platform and grow in the global market. 

Founders of NeuroBell and Soothing Solutions among '10 Women in Healthcare to Watch'

Dr Alison O'Shea of NeuroBell and Sineád Crowther of Soothing Solutions were featured in The Gloss Magazine's '10 Women in Healthcare to Watch' article. It's a proud moment for Furthr and Furthr VC to see the Furthr-supported companies reaching new heights. NeuroBell developed a pocket-sized wireless brain-monitoring device for newborns, while Soothing Solutions produces a range of child-friendly alternatives to lozenges.

Cork-based medtech company, Gasgon Medical, is raising a new round where they are looking for investments worth €4 million to cover the commercial launch of their product 'AirVault' in the US. Founded by Vincent Forde, Gasgon developed a device that assists healthcare providers in providing fast and accurate IV delivery by capturing air bubbles during the process.

Medical Eguides Ltd (MEG) has entered a five-year partnership with M42 to implement its quality management system across all of its healthcare facilities in the UAE. MEG, amidst its growth in the global market, has also welcomed Leonara O'Brien as a strategic advisor for international expansion.

Richard Watson of Furthr VC sat down with The Irish Times to discuss the shape of VC funding in Ireland 

The fall in venture capital funding for Irish tech in the last quarter of 2023 shouldn't be looked at negatively, said Richard Watson, Managing Partner of Furthr VC as he discussed the state of Venture Capital funding in Ireland and its reflection on the global trends. While he is hopeful that international venture capital will start flooding back into the Irish market soon, he agrees it will be a slow process.

Cork BIC partners in the €20 million 'Seeds of Bravery' Project to support Ukrainian Tech Ecosystem 

A pan-European consortium, including Cork BIC, launched a €20 million 'Seeds of Bravery' project to empower Ukrainian tech start-ups and SMEs with innovative solutions, services and products. The initiative, funded by the European Union under the European Innovation Council, aims to enhance the presence of Ukrainian start-ups in a broader European innovation ecosystem.

The 23rd InterTradeIreland All-Island Venture Capital Conference will make a comeback in 2024. The event will take place at the Titanic Belfast on Tuesday, 5th March and aims to showcase the island's start-up and early-stage ventures. 

TU Dublin, in association with the 4 Local Enterprise Offices in Dublin, is sponsoring a pitch competition to find Dublin's most exciting start-up. The event, organised as part of Local Enterprise Week 2024, has a first prize of

€5,000 and 12 months of free office space in one of three campuses of TU Dublin.

On 28th February, Furthr and The Guinness Enterprise Centre hosted an in-person event with the Brampton Innovation District: The Vibrant Centre of Canada's Innovation Corridor. The panel, led by Clare Barnett, Director of Economic Development & International Relations, discussed the vibrant innovation ecosystem and scaling opportunities in the City of Brampton, Toronto. 

Dublin Tech Talks, in partnership with The Guinness Enterprise Centre, host a speaker series on the first Tuesday of every month. The next event will discuss 'The Power of Product - Understand the value of a product-led organisation'. The last event was a successful sold-out event.
