Furthr launches Furthr Foundry, a Pre-seed accelerator for early stage start-ups

Furthr Foundry is a new Pre-Seed Accelerator that offers support to early-stage start-ups aspiring to grow globally. Designed and delivered by Furthr drawing on its 35 years of experience in nurturing over 6000 Irish start-ups, this in-person programme aims to provide comprehensive support to founders through interactive and challenging sessions held at the Guinness Enterprise Centre.

Pumpinheart, a medtech start-up founded by Dr Aamir Hameed, Dr. Andrew Malone, Dr Darragh Colgan, and Donald Hickey, looks to raise €5 million in seed funding later this year. The investment will go into fine-tuning its technology aimed at addressing diastolic heart failure. The larger-scaled version of the device was successfully tested on animals.

Dr Alison O'Shea of NeuroBell and Sineád Crowther of Soothing Solutions were featured in The Gloss Magazine's '10 Women in Healthcare to Watch' article. It's a proud moment for Furthr and Furthr VC to see the Furthr-supported companies reaching new heights. NeuroBell developed a pocket-sized wireless brain-monitoring device for newborns, while Soothing Solutions produces a range of child-friendly alternatives to lozenges.

Cork-based medtech company, Gasgon Medical, is raising a new round where they are looking for investments worth €4 million to cover the commercial launch of their product 'AirVault' in the US. Founded by Vincent Forde, Gasgon developed a device that assists healthcare providers in providing fast and accurate IV delivery by capturing air bubbles during the process.

Richard Watson of Furthr VC sat down with The Irish Times to discuss the shape of VC funding in Ireland 

 

The fall in venture capital funding for Irish tech in the last quarter of 2023 shouldn't be looked at negatively, said Richard Watson, Managing Partner of Furthr VC as he discussed the state of Venture Capital funding in Ireland and its reflection on the global trends. While he is hopeful that international venture capital will start flooding back into the Irish market soon, he agrees it will be a slow process.
